Dallas Cowboys (7-5) defeated New Orleans Saints (10-2) in Thursday Night Football 13-10, and snapped their 10-game win streak, making it four in a row for themselves.
After being on the verge of chaos, with a few believing in their comeback, the Dallas Cowboys proved that they have the quality for big games.
“They played like a championship defense.” said Jerry Jones. “I must tell you, the defense played beyond my expectations.”
And the Cowboys really did play like a champion, against the most intimidating offense in the league. They held the Saints to only 10 points, twice as less than their previous season-low.
Drew Brees was held to 127 passing yards, his second-fewest in a career when playing the whole game, completing just 18 of his 28 throws, for only one touchdown and one interception. He opened this event with 0-for-4 passing which was the first time in his long and prosperous career. It was obvious at that moment that something isn’t right for the guests.
Quickly enough, the home team had a 13-0 lead entering the second half. However, after a 33-yard field goal and a 30-yard touchdown to Keith Kirkwood, it appeared that the Saints have the momentum.
With 2:08 until to go, with three points behind the Cowboys, New Orleans had the football, and the win in their hands. Alvin Kamara was the target, but Jourdan Lewis intercepted that pass, and AT&T Stadium exploded. Two plays after that, Marshon Lattimore was given a penalty, Dallas got a first down and Prescott could kneel until the end.

“I felt like we didn’t really find a rhythm for pretty much the whole game. I guess we may have had one decent drive. … So credit to them.” Brees stated after the game.
Dak Prescott once again improvised. And he improvised a lot. Dallas QB tried to spend as much time as he could, to keep New Orleans’ offensive team off the field. Sometimes he got on top, but sometimes he got into trouble. After managing to get the first down on third-and-10, Prescott fumbled with 2:42 to the end, with the ball being recovered by the Saints on the 15-yard line in their territory.
However, everything went well for Dallas in the end. Prescott was sacked season-high seven times, finishing the game with 248 yards, one touchdown and an excellent completion percentage, 24-of-28. There were no interceptions this time for the young quarterback, who is slowly starting to resemble the rookie two seasons ago.
“We need to take the confidence that we’ve got from these last four weeks and just continue to grow, continue to get better, on every phase of the game, offense, defense, special teams. I mean defense, honestly, they did that tonight.” Prescott told the reporters after the game.

When you see that a team who averaged 44 points over the past four games finished the game with 65 rushing and 127 passing yards, you have to give credit to the defensive part of the assembly, regardless of anything else.
It was precisely what Sean Payton did. The New Orleans Saints head coach, admitted that his team got outplayed by a better rival.
“[The Cowboys] played a heck of a game, deserved to win the game. … It starts with us as coaches, the plan going in,” Payton said. “There will be a lot we watch on tape, and regret certain plays. But before we get into any of that, you really gotta tip your hat to the way they played.”
The Saints are going to Tampa now, to meet with the Buccaneers, a team who defeated them on an opening day, 48-40. With half a game behind the Rams, victory is a must for Payton’s guys.
Dallas hosts Philadelphia Eagles, against whom their comeback from the dead started. Back in Week 10, Cowboys pulled a huge win on the road against the champions, 27-20, which boosted their morale and showed them that they have the quality to compete with the best teams in the league.
