The semifinals of Coppa Italia put together Juventus and Inter Milan. Their first leg takes place at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, the home of the Old Lady. Juventus’ recent results give their fans hope that they might end up with at least one trophy this year. Massimiliano Allegri’s crew plays significantly better than before, coming into this event as the favorite. On the other side, Inter is in problems, performing lousy and recording disappointing results one after another. Tuesday’s contest will be the first of two, meaning that we have 180 minutes of excellent football ahead of us.
Preview
Juventus (+110) triumphed in the past five events and has eight victories in the recent ten contests across all the competitions. The only loss during that stretch was against Roma on the road, 1-0, while a draw took place in France against Nantes, 1-1, in the UEFA Europa League.
In four of those latest five victories, we’ve seen Juventus keeping its net intact, displaying fantastic performances in the back line, and reminding of some past times when this club had, without a doubt, the strongest defense in the world.
Allegri and the crew didn’t lose in the past seven straight at home, winning six and having one draw. This unit is very rational, and it only now shows glimpses of its potential. If it stays together for a year or two, we could see Juve dominating the championship once again.
Inter Milan (+220) is on the downhill, with them failing to win in the most recent four games and five of the previous six. Things are pretty bad with Nerazzurri, and speculations about Simone Inzaghi’s departure could have something to do with that. Since Antonio Conte became free, there isn’t a day going by without mentioning his return.
The most frightening fact for Inter’s fans and staff is three games without a goal scored. They couldn’t net in Porto, then against Juve at home and against Fiorentina also at Meazza, this weekend.
Following a period of solid results away from Milan, Inter began to underachieve, and right now, Inzaghi’s crew didn’t triumph in the recent four road events. In three, Inter couldn’t score.
Latest News
Ihattaren, Peeters and Pogba won’t play for sure, while Bonucci, Chiesa, and Kaio Jorge remain questionable.
Calhanoglu, Dalbert, and Skrinar won’t be in the protocol for Inter, and DiMarco still isn’t fully recovered, and his appearance will be a game-time decision.
Head to Head Games
Inter and Juve met less than three weeks ago at Meazza. The guests went home with three points in their bag, winning 0-1. That was the second triumph they posted over Inter this season, following the one in Turin, 2-0.
Prediction
The game will be conservative and defensive-minded because we have another 90 minutes in Milan. But even so, we think that Juventus has better prospects of winning due to their current form. Unlike Inter, the Old Lady looks better and better as time passes, posting very good results. Inter is terrible on the road, struggling to score, meaning Juve has a perfect chance to grab a positive result before the rematch.
Pick: Juventus wins +110
