Brazil and Peru meet for the second time at this Copa America 2020. The only difference is that they clash in the semifinals, with much higher stakes now than in the group stage. We’ve seen two very interesting quarterfinals involving these two sides. Brazil eliminated Chile, but had a lot of luck, while on the other side, Peru went through a penalty shootout to take down Paraguay. Even though Selecao stands as a massive favorite, nothing is certain at Copa America.
Preview
Brazil (-400) survived Chile in the quarterfinals, defeating them 1-0 while enduring many problems. This wasn’t the championship Brazil we’ve expected, and certainly not even close to what is needed to win the World Cup.
Tite’s boys were blown away in certain situations, especially once they remained with 10 players, following Gabriel Jesus‘ red card in the 48th minute. After that, Brazil was stealing time, delaying the game, and performing antifootball, to be honest.
Though, the hosts would keep the clean sheet, their sixth in the past eight matches. Ever since Tite sat on the bench, Brazil’s biggest strength is harsh defense, which enables the rivals to not only score but play their game as well. Selecao is currently without a loss for 12 matches, but all that will be forgotten if they fail to win the title here.
Peru (+1400) was lucky enough to eliminate Paraguay following a penalty shootout and following a mad 90 minutes that saw six goals, numerous yellow and two red cards. Peru had a lead, but the Paraguayans kept coming after to level the score and make trouble. However, in the end, Ricardo Gareca’s guys cruised into the top four.
Since losing to Brazil in the opener, the Peruvians haven’t lost a match at Copa America, defeating Colombia and Venezuela while playing twice against Ecuador and Paraguay.
What is important to say about this unit is that they play open and offensive football with many goals. Only one game in the last seven didn’t see three or more hits. Also, three of the past four ended with both teams netting, which is another proof that Peru likes to play interesting matchups.

Felipe is out due to a knee injury, while Renan Lodi has problems with a ribs injury. Gabriel Jesus is out because of a red card received against Chile.
On the other side, arguably the most important player of the unit, Andre Carrillo, won’t be able to help his teammates, as he also received a red card in the quarterfinals.
Head to Head Matches
Brazil swept the Peruvians at the opener of this tournament with 4-0. In the last six matches, Brazil won five times and lost just once.
Prediction
The Selecao is an absolute favorite, and we predict their easy win here. Furthermore, it should be a routine one by two or more goals of difference. The odds for the Brazilians to win with a -1.5-goal handicap are -110, and that is our pick for this event. For braver ones, go with Brazil scores twice inside the opening 45 minutes.
