Cleveland Browns arent’t kidding at all, and their 49-38 win in Dallas against the Cowboys is the ultimate proof for that claim. Boys from Ohio managed to record the third victory in this campaign, holding off raging Dak Prescott, who had his first 500+yard match.
The Browns had to work very hard, to keep the win, because the Cowboys cut the deficit to just three points in the last period, 41-38. After seeing them come back against the Falcons recently, many believed that Mike McCarthy’s side might create another miracle, but that didn’t happen. The main reasons for that were Odell Beckham Jr. and Dallas’ defense.
OBJ scored three touchdowns in this match, making it his first with multiple TDs since arriving in Ohio. The last one was a 50-yard rush and a two-point conversion following it, which set the final result. Beckham had two receiving TDs, one on the ground, and a total of 154 yards from the scrimmage.
Baker Mayfield was solid, seeming much better than before. He didn’t have a single turnover, posting 165 passing yards and two touchdowns. Not some shiny numbers, but the Browns’ QB did his part of the job well.
“We just have to keep our foot on the gas,” said Mayfield after the match.
Cleveland scored 27 consecutive points in the second and third period, forcing two fumbles and pulling away two 41-14. It was arguably the best interval of the Browns in the last couple of years. Mayfield was calm, his targets focused, running backs ready, and the defense at the highest possible level. Myles Garrett had two sacks, one of them with a strip, and was the dominant force of the visitors’ defence.
Meanwhile, Precotts’ numbers in this one were impressive, as he became the first player with three straight events with 450+yards thrown. Plus, for the first time in his career, he eclipsed the 500-yard mark.
“I’d give all those yards back for a different record.”
Cowboys’ QB had four TDs, one pick, and one fumble, and was heavily frustrated with the outcome.
“That we haven’t played complementary football. We haven’t put all 4 quarters together. Simple as that…We can’t get behind early in games.”

Two of his four TD tosses were towards Amari Cooper, who produced 134 yards. CeeDee Lamb, the rookie, had one score and 79 receiving yards n five catches, and Dalton Schultz 72 for one TD.
Ezekiel Elliot had one very bad performance with 54 yards on 12 carries.
Across the field, the Browns posted 307 rushing yards, and they did that with Nick Chubb leaving the game early on due to an injury. D’Ernest Johnson had 95 yards on 12 carries, replacing Chubb well, Kareem Hunt 71 for two TDs.
One of three Odell’s TDs was after Jarvis Landry’s pass for 37 yards. The two made a superb play, which was crowned in the best possible way.
Browns have two very tough matches, the first at home next Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. After that, they have a big divisional derby in Pittsburgh where they meet the surging Steelers. That game will be very important for the battle inside the AFC North division and its finals standings.
With 1-3, Dallas is in trouble, and the playoffs are endangered now. The upcoming matches versus the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals at home are a must-win for McCarthy’s guys; otherwise, it is goodbye playoffs.
