The second day of the Champions League brought even more excitement than the opener. A few unexpected results, lots of fierce and intense matches and as always, very attractive matches.
In the derby of the day, and the entire round, Paris Saint-Germain played against Real Madrid at Parc des Princes. The French team was more than confident, beating the most successful team in history with 3-0. It was a night of sweet revenge of Angel Di Maria to his former club.
The Argentinian and one of the best players in the world scored two goals, pushing his team to a 2-0 lead. The second goal was very, very nice, a projectile from outside the box. Real managed to score through Gareth Bale, but that score was disallowed. According to the referee, the Welsh superstar handballed, even though it was obvious that he didn’t have any intentions in doing so and that the ball didn’t change its path.

It made the guests from Madrid pretty upset and angry, but nothing changed. To make it even worse for them, one more goal was canceled. It was Benzema who picked up the ball in the box and hit the back of the net, but the referees saw Lucas Vasquez activating from offside.
“They were superior to us in everything they did, and in intensity, which annoys me the most. They were good and created chances, but what worries me is that we played without intensity,” said Zinedine Zidane following the match.
Thomas Meunier sealed the win for the hosts.
The second match in Group A was between Club Brugge and Galatasaray, and it was the only one which didn’t see any goals today.
After the first 45 minutes of the second spectacle tonight, many believed that it would too end without goals. Atletico and Juve played 0-0 at the halftime, but everything changed after that. Four goals, and a superb comeback of the Spanish side fired up the fans at Wanda Metropolitan. Juan Quadraro and Matuidi brought a 0-2 lead for the guests, who were dominating the pitch in those moments.
But Diego Simeone and his feisty team never give up, and they proved that once again. First Stefan Savic decreased the lead, and after that Héctor Herrera ignited the crowd with his late goal. In the end, it was 2-2.

“I think we played well, but we have a bitter taste in our mouth now because we felt we had the game in our hands. We need more attention and focus on set pieces. We will work on that,” Maurizio Sarri, Juventus’ coach said to the reporters at the press conference,
It was a match of Group D, in which are also Lokomotiv Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen who played in Germany. Surprisingly the Russian team won, 1-2
Manchester City started their quest towards the trophy with an easy win in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk, 3-0. One by one, Mahrez, Gundogan, and Gabriel Jesus scored goals for the Citizens, who despite such a high win aren’t topping the Group C. And that is because Dinamo Zagreb smashed Atalanta with 4-0. The goal difference is on their side, and the Croatian champions can look from above on Man City for at least some time.

And in Group B, Tottenham had a two-goal lead in Greece against Olympiacos but went home with just one point. The final result was 2-2.
Bayern Munich hosted Red Star Belgrade and routinely won with 3-0.
