Red Bull Leipzig and Bayern Munich will make everyone’s Saturday thrilling as these two teams meet at Red Bull Arena. RB was considered to be a worthy challenger to Bayern some two or three years ago, but they ended up being just another provider for Bayern’s needs. The Bavarians ripped RB’s heart this summer, taking away three faces to Munich, Upamecano, and Sabitzer, plus the head coach Julian Nagelsmann. Still, the Bulls did receive substantial compensation in return for that. All that money was invested in landing a couple of hidden gems, and we can say now that RB has arguably the most talented team in Europe.
Preview
RB Leipzig (+200) has just one win in the opening three rounds of the Bundesliga, winning its home match against Stuttgart, 4-0, and losing to Mainz and Wolfsburg on the road with the minimal result, on both occasions.
Jesse Marsch didn’t start as planned, but that is something expected, as RB entered the rebuild process, losing several key players, plus the head coach, on one side and receiving a lot of new faces on the other. Everything needs to settle down, before we bring the final word, but for now, we can’t condemn a team that has Moriba, Nkunku, Szoboszlai, and the rest of the youngsters whose average worth is around $40 million.
Marsch is supposed to be a bit more offensive-minded than Nagelsmann, but he didn’t show that in the opening few matches. All three Bundesliga games RB played were with just one side netting, which is interesting.
Bayern Munich (+120) had a terrible run during the preseason, but they got back on track in the past four matches, especially after beating Bremer in the DFB Pokal with 0-12. After that, Hertha Berlin felt what it was like to be rolled over at Allianz, losing 5-0.
Only the opening Bundesliga game against Borussia Monchengladbach on the road ended without three or more goals, and after that, all the games were over 4.5 hits.
Bayern plays its usual football, meaning constant pressure, attack, and high intensity throughout all 90 minutes.
Latest News
Angelino will be out for the hosts, which is a massive blow for Marsch. Also, Marcelo Saracchi is unavailable as well.
In Bayern, Upamecano won’t play for sure. The situation around Alphonso Davies is questionable, but it is expected to see the Canadian appear. Thomas Muller is doubtful but likely to be ready, the same as Sabitzer, who started practicing. Tolisso’s chances for playing are low.
Head to Head Games
The last game between these teams was in Leipzig in April, and Bayern went home with a minimal, 0-1 victory. The previous event in the 2021 campaign, at Allianz, saw a draw, 3-3.
Prediction
This is the first big test for the Bulls’ youngsters, while on the other side, Nagelsmann comes to Leipzig for the first time since leaving RB. That should spice up the situation. Regarding the pick, our choice is Bayern’s victory, because RB still isn’t at the needed level to compete with the Bavarian machinery. The youngsters don’t have the experience nor the routine to resist Bayern, and our recommendation is to bet on the guests to win.
Pick: Bayern to win +120
