Borussia Monchengladbach hosts Bayern Munich in Bundesliga round 3. The game is set for September 2, that is, Saturday at the Borussia Park. Bayern is the most popular team in Germany, but Borussia’s fanbase is also amazing, and Monch is one of the top five teams in this country in that category. We’ve seen them presenting a challenge for the champs throughout the previous several years, which is one of the reasons why their fans have high hopes before this event.

Borussia Monchengladbach (+700) lost to Bayer Leverkusen at home last weekend in one of the round’s derbies. The guests went back home with a 0-3 victory, and we can say without any hesitation that Monch failed to meet the lowest expectations of their fans.

The team was blown away in the midfield, where Bayer ruled and created havoc. The guests had 24 shots on goal and ten on target, while the hosts had only two shots that could have hit the back of the net. A very concerning performance for Monch, who now has an even greater challenge. 

This was the third competitive event Borussia played, following a 0-7 win in the DFB Pokal against Bersenbruck and after a 4-4 tie against Augsburg on the road. As you can see, plenty of goals are always present when Monch plays, and that’s been their characteristic for a long time. 

Bayern Munich (-330) rebounded from a loss to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup with two victories. They were confident against Werder in Bremen on the opening day of the championship, winning 0-4 and seeing Harry Kane catching the rhythm.

The next event was at home against Augsburg, and Bayern triumphed 3-1. Harry Kane’s performances were more important than the result, and the English striker once more managed to put his name on the scoresheet, which is extremely important for Tuchel and his crew. 

Bayern’s style of play is already known, and we don’t have to say anything about it. They are an extremely offensive-minded unit, only Tuchel has problems accepting that, and from time to time, he creates problems for the Bavarians with his “slowing down.”

Borussia’s injury list is very long. Wober, Schally, Chiarodia, Netz, Nico Elvedi, Hannes Wolf, Lainer, Kramer, and Kone are all unavailable.

A big problem for Tuchel will be Musiala’s absence, with the youngster picking up a hamstring injury. Guerreiro is injured too and won’t be in the protocol for this event.

Borussia’s defense is way too weak at the moment, and we’ve seen that in the opening two events with Monch allowing seven goals. So, this should be a piece of cake job for Bayern. Even though Musiala isn’t playing, we simply don’t think the hosts have what it takes to compete with the champions.
