Borussia Dortmund went from chasing the title, to trying being in danger of losing the Champions League spot. It is why the Millionaires simply have to win Saturday’s match and take all three points. But that won’t be easy, as Hertha has its own plans. Plus, the team from Berlin is in an excellent form, and is posting very good results since the comeback.
Preview
Borussia Dortmund (-200) comes as a favorite in this one and, as mentioned above, needs to post a win. The situation in the standings is complicated and the Millionaires have to be careful right now. With 60 points, they are seven steps behind Bayern, and two ahead Red Bull. But, it is troubling that Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach have just four points fewer, meaning that they have realistic chances of jumping over Lucien Favre’s crew.
After a pale first half against Paderborn, we saw six goals in the latter 45 minutes, in which Borussia demonstrated all of its offensive potentials. Even though they couldn’t score against Bayern, they are still one of the best-attacking teams in the world.
When it comes to the statistics, just the game against Paderborn saw both teams to score in all Dortmund’s four matches since the restart.
Hertha (+650) is superb in the recent four matches, and arguably the team in the best shape (besides Bayern) since Bundesliga’s restart. During that span, they would post three wins and one loss, not allowing a single goal in three games, all of them wins. The total goal-difference during that span was 11-2 in their favor.
Three triumphs came against Hoffenheim, Union, and Augsburg, while a draw happened in Leipzig against RB. The latest contest against Augsburg, which concluded 2-0 in the Old Lady’s favor was the first following nine straight in which they appeared that finished with over 2.5 goals.
Also, we need to add that in the previous six, Hertha netted twice in each.
Latest News
Haaland is back, and that is the most important news for the hosts. The Norwegian goal machine is 100% ready and is expected to be in the starting lineup. However, other news is not so good for the hosts. Mats Hummels is suspended for this match, while Schulz, Reus, Dahoud, and Zagadou are all out due to respective injuries.
Hertha is in serious trouble regarding injured players. Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Marvin Plattenhardt are questionable. Netz, Wolf, Cunha, Kalou, Ascacibar, and Kraft are out.
Head to Head
Dortmund won the first match of the year. The contest in Berlin ended 1-2 in favor of the guests, who scored two goals in two minutes early on. Sancho netted in 15th, and Hazard in 17th minute. On the other side, Darida decreased the gap in the 34th minute.
Prediction
As you see, these two sides have excellent attack and are looking pretty ruthless upfront. It is the main reason why we are suggesting to focus on goals here. For the more courageous ones, over 1.5 HT is the first recommendation. The moneyline here is excellent, +100, and in our opinion, this should be tried.
The other, less risky pick is over 1.5 goals in the second half with the odds at -190.
