We had three NFL Wild Card games last night, and the winners of the same were Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and the Cincinnati Bengals. They are through into the Divisional Round, which takes place next weekend.
Bills Survive Feisty Miami
The Bills defeated the Dolphins, 34-31, following a massive battle at the Highmark Stadium. After an opening 14-0 lead, the Bills were caught napping and the Dolphins were back in no time, with a couple of excellent defenses, picking Josh Allen.
We have to say that the guests from Florida had their chance to beat the Bills and make a massive surprise, but the rookie QB Skylar Thompson simply didn’t have enough experience in those moments. He ended the night with 220 passing yards, one TD toss, and two picks. Also, we have to say that the Fins’ rushing game was terrible, with only 42 yards on the ground. Yet the defense was perfect, forcing Allen to create three turnovers.
One of the best QBs in the league had two picks and a lost fumble, yet recorded 352 passing yards and three passing TDs. Stefon Diggs, with 114, and Gabe Davis, with one yard fewer yet with a TD, were his main targets.
Giants Win After 11 Years
The NY Giants won in Minneapolis against the Vikings, their first playoff victory in 11 years. They edged the Vikes 31-24, making s surprise against the second seed in the NFC and the NFC North champions.
Long doubted Daniel Jones was near perfection, having 301 passing yards for two TD tosses, without an interception, and with 78 rushing yards on 17 snaps. Not only did he create havoc for the Vikings’ defense, but he was also opening space for the rest of his teammates, like Saquon Barkley, who had two rushing TDs and 53 yards on the ground in nine runs. The stellar RB had 56 receiving yards, while Isiaiah Hodgins ended the night with 105 yards through the air and one TD.
Kirk Cousins had 273 passing yards and two TD passes, yet, his team failed to meet the expectations. Minnesota was bad on the ground, with Dalvin Cook posting only 60 yards on 15 carries. TJ Hockenson had 129 receiving yards, while Justin Jefferson ended with only 47 and one TD.
Up next for the Giants is the divisional clash against the Eagles in Philly.
Bengals Flip the Injured Ravens
A 98-yard fumble return delivered by Sam Hubbard was the difference maker in Sunday’s closing event. The Bengals were better than the AFC North rivals, the Ravens, 24-17, because of a memorable play delivered by their defensive end, who set the final result early in the fourth.
Up to that moment, the game was tied, and the Bengals had problems restraining the rivals, especially when they had possession. Joe Burrow was sacked four times and had only 209 passing yards with one TD pass, adding a running TD. Meanwhile, the Bengals’ rushing game was slow, generating only 51 yards on the ground.
Tyler Huntley was solid for the Ravens, with two touchdown passes, one pick, 226 passing yards, and 17-for-29. Meanwhile, the running backs were good, along with Huntley, and the Ravens recorded 155 yards on the ground, yet without a TD.
The Bengals now square off with the Bills in Buffalo.
