Arsenal won the FA Cup by defeating Chelsea in the finals played at Wembley today. The final score of the match was 2-1 for the Gunners who managed to come back from behind before lifting the trophy.
All the credits for the record-breaking 14th trophy of the oldest soccer competition in the world go to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who scored two goals today.
The fantastic striker from Gabon, hit the back of the net in the 28th and 67th minute, turning the game upside down.
“We are all happy. The manager deserves this win, he did a great job. We are all happy for him!” said Aubameyang after the match, refusing to speak about his contribution and his plans.
One of the biggest enigmas in European football is Aubameyang’s future. He is in the middle of the media attention as several big clubs want his signature, among them Barcelona as the favorite according to some sources.
“Nothing. Just today, the trophy, that’s it!,” he said once asked about the possible departure from Emirates.
This win is a season-saver for the Gunners, as they had the worst campaign in the last 25 years, finishing eighth in the Premiership. Yet, the start of the game didn’t indicate a happy ending for Arteta’s boys.

Chelsea was better, and they pretty quickly took the lead. Giroud’s nice assist to Pulisic, left the American in a superb position and he scored from some six yards. Only five minutes passed since the kick-off, and the Blues were off to a flier.
Still, Arsenal recovered well, and after they managed to level the result. Azpilicueta fouled Aubameyang in the box, and the referee pointed towards the penalty spot. The Gabonese was ice cold, and his team was back into the game.
We haven’t seen any chances until the end of the halftime, with the game mostly being played in the middle, which was the case in the second 45 minutes as well.
Chelsea had most of the ball possession, while Arsenal waited for counter-attacks, which eventually paid off.
It was Bellerin who started everything, with the ball reaching Nicolas Pepe on the left flank, and the French found Aubameyang. The star of the game routinely deceived Zuma to beat Willy Caballero.

Some six minutes later, the situation got much tougher for the Blues who were left without Mateo Kovacic after the Croatian received a second yellow card. IT was a bit controversial situation, but Lampard’s team ended up one man short. When we add that Azpilicueta and Pulisic both left the pitch because of injuries, it was obvious that the Blues’ chances are pretty slim.
Still, they gave 100% of abilities, pressuring Arsenal in the finals minutes but without any success.
“We got back in the second half for big periods, but a lot today was on us. Today we were slow and invited pressure. We didn’t perform well enough to win a final. It all came together for us today, didn’t it? We were below par after the start, two hamstrings and a dislocated shoulder (Pedro),” said Lampard.
This was a record 14th title of the Gunners in this competition, and they are very proud of that fact. The FA Cup has a great tradition in England, and the winners of the same are receiving a massive honor, as it is the eldest soccer competition in the world. Its first edition took place in 1871-72.
