All the speculations about Arsen Wenger’s arrival in Munich and taking over the coaching position at the five-time European champions, are ruled out after today’s statement issued by Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director of this club.
Bayern Munich is not performing the way they should. That is the standing point of every true fan who loves this club. Since the season started the Bavarians are underachieving, and it appears that this year’s title is not coming to Allianz Arena.
For the admirers of this club, it is a slap in the face after six consecutive championships, in which they pretty much dominated.
The pressure is on coach Niko Kovac, who came this summer, and the fans are demanding his removal from the club. Allegedly, Bayern has made some initial contacts with Arsene Wenger during this week, but the disclamation came almost instantly.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic had a brief interview with Sky Germany, in which he specifically stated, that the board has full confidence in the Croatian’s qualities, and that Bayern didn’t have any contacts at all with Wenger.
“There was 100 per cent no contact with Arsene Wenger. We will travel to Bremen with Niko Kovac as our manager and we will win.” he said.

Salihamidzic is convinced that his club can play much better and the proof for that is the latest performance against Benfica, which they won with 5-1.
“We have often failed to hold such a focused performance for the whole 90 minutes. But we have done really well [against Benfica], and we can now build on that.” former Bayern player said, once again ruling out the possibility of any changes at the position of the coach.
Things are not very well in Munich, and that is a fact, The newly arrived coach from Eintracht Frankfurt is not very popular among the fans, but what is worse, the players don’t like him either.
He prefers to play cautious and conservative soccer, something which isn’t in the nature of these guys, who had worked previously with Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola, two persons who simply adore to attack and dominate on the field, regardless of the result.
Now, the philosophy of play is a bit different. Kovac is a type of coach who wants to slow down the pace of the game when leading and rather preserve the advantage, instead of making it bigger.
That bothers people in Munich. Especially James Rodrigues, Colombian superstar who openly opposed Kovac, and told the management to chose between him and the manager. Also, there are other players, who are not satisfied with their role such as Thomas Muller and David Alaba, who were often left on the bench without a proper explanation.
For now, this situation looks calm, but it is just a matter of time before it escalates. Last Saturday, Bayern played only 3-3 at home against Fortuna Dusseldorf, probably the weakest club in the Bundesliga. For the first time after many years, booes could be heard at Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians are fifth in the standings with 9 points fewer than Borussia Dortmund, who is No. 1. The Millionaires defeated Bayern two weeks ago in the derby played at Signal Iduna Park with 3-2, after coming back from a 0-1 deficit at the halftime.
Rumours about Kovac’s future here started to emerge right after that match, and haven’t been silenced since.
We are going to see what will happen after today’s actions.
