Luka Jovic might be heading to Arsenal, according to the sources from the Serbian media. The youngster who can’t find his way around in Real Madrid is also a target of the Gunners’ city rivals Chelsea and Tottenham and the Italian powerhouse Napoli.
Arsenal is ready to pay €55 million, which is just five million fewer than Real paid Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. The Gunners and Mikel Arteta are aware that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will probably leave Emirates at the end of the years, which is why they need to react and find a replacement for one of the best strikers in Europe.
It seems that Arteta has a high opinion of Jovic and believes that he might be the guy who would fill in the blank along with Gabriel Martinelli and Alexander Lacazette.

The Serb has been one of the biggest talents in Europe since junior days. His fantastic finishing abilities and feeling for goals are rarely seen, but it appears that the mental strength is something which he needs to work on. After having a fantastic season with the German Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt where he scored 27 goals in 48 games last year, becoming the first-ever player in the club’s history to net five times during one match, Jovic moved to Real.
The Spanish media saw him as a long-term solution and the replacement for Karim Benzema. The French international would mentor his younger colleague in the beginning, and when the time comes, Jovic was projected to succeed the fantastic striker. But things went in the totally opposite direction.
In 24 appearances for Real, Jovic scored just twice, and over the last few weeks, he wasn’t even in the protocol for Los Blancos’ games. Sources are claiming that Zinedine Zidane isn’t counting on the youngster anymore and that he wants to see him out of the club in the next transfer window.
In the meantime, Napoli emerged as one of the strongest candidates for bringing Jovic. The Italians are willing to pay €45 million which is significantly lower than Arsenal intends to spend on the Serb. However, two more powerhouses are interested in landing the problematic striker – Tottenham and Chelsea.
The Spurs want to secure themselves due to constant problems in the attack. We often saw Mourinho’s side losing its edge due to injuries and having to make certain improvisations once Harry Kane can’t play. Meanwhile, Chelsea is aware that Olivier Giroud won’t stay after this summer, and they too need to find No.2 striker behind Tammy Abraham.
Jovic is in the middle of attention over the previous several days, but the motives for that are not linked with sports. The 22-year old broke several laws in his native Serbia, and will be prosecuted but the authorities. Jovic left Real and Madrid and came back home to Serbia in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterward, he didn’t follow the mandatory self-isolation for all the persons who arrived in the country, but was visiting night clubs and was organizing a birthday party for his girlfriend.
All this turned the public against the player, who was filling the headlines of the domestic media. Even the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, called him out at one press conference, not mentioning his name , but clearly pointing to the striker.
