Things just aren’t normal when it comes to Antonio Brown. The latest news is that the New England Patriots released the wide receiver, only 11 days after signing him.
The Patriots have released a statement saying next:
“We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”
Shortly before that, the player himself indicated that something might happen, posting a tweet in which he expresses his gratitude towards the Patriots who gave him a chance to settle down.
“Thanks for the opportunity appreciate Patriots,” Brown wrote.
The probable reason for his release are the sexual allegations the player is facing. At first, Britney Taylor, Brown’s personal trainer stepped out and filled a lawsuit against her former client, claiming that he raped her on several occasions. The Patriots weren’t doing anything regarding that question. The franchise from Massachusets kept its mouth shut, not giving any statements and similar which might draw too much attention.
But the recent developments have forced Bill Belichick to draw the line and prevent any problems in the future. Another woman decided to break the silence – the artist who worked at his house in Western Pennsylvania. Her lawyer stated yesterday that AB texted some disturbing and threatening messages to his client, and he got in touch with the league, notifying the officials about this incident.
Following that, the Patriots have directed Brown to stop all the communications with the artist.
This is yet to be a developing story, while the initial lawsuit is already in full swing. Taylor demanded a $2 million settlement, which Brown rejected, and she had a meeting with the league on September 16.
There was a possibility at one point, for Brown to be put on the commissioner’s exempt list. Yet he wasn’t, but now, that won’t be of a big deal because he is without a club anyway.
Antonio Brown signed with the Patriots a one-year deal on September 9. Its worth was $15 million, plus a $9 million signing bonus. That bonus was to be paid from two parts, the first this Monday $5 million and $4 million until January 15.
Antonio Brown likely forfeits $9M signing bonus from Patriots b/c of a contract clause calling for players to disclose situations preventing availability, per league source. This could lead to a grievance, but source says that money is 'gone.' Brown was due $5M Monday

The player even played one match against the Miami Dolphins, in Pats’ 43-0 win. He had four receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown.
Previously, Brown had created chaos among the Oakland Raiders. He landed there from Pittsburgh where his time went up, as he wanted to go out at any cost. Jon Gruden had a vision which saw AB as the vital piece in the new Raiders team, the one competent to attack the Super Bowl. His three-year contract was worth $50 million, of which $30 million were guaranteed money.
But his childish an unprofessional behavior was too much for the general manager Mike Mayock. After all the situations the player has created, he even wanted to fight the Raiders’ GM at one training session.
His last days in Pittsburgh were also highly controversial and problematic. He accused Ben Roethlisberger of being the generator of a bad atmosphere, then refusing to play, and threatening to have the same method of forcing his way out as Le’Veon Bell did.
All in all, we are waiting for the next chapter of the Antonio Brown saga now. Where would he end up now?
