For the first time since his trade request, which created mass hysteria throughout the league, Anthony Davis addressed to the public earlier today.
The Eyebrow talked about his reasons for demanding a trade, rumors about the next destinations, and the whole situation he is going through right now.
“I gave the city, organization, fans everything I feel like I could,” Davis told to the media, saying that he spent his whole career in New Orleans, trying to represent his club in the best possible way.
His decision to move on from Big Easy is motivated by the fact that he doesn’t know for how long he can play in the league, and also, because he wants to use his prime years to create a legacy which will stay behind him.
“I don’t know how long I’m gonna play this game. People’s careers are short. And I feel like it’s my time to move on. …I feel like I’m in my prime right now, I’m playing at an elite level, and I want to make sure I take advantage of that.”
Davis has a point here, as his numbers do look astonishing when compared to other players in his position. He currently averages 29.3 points has 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 2.6 blocks, along with just 2 turnovers per game.
Now, if he played in some other team with a winning percentage and a playoff spot, there is no question that besides James Harden, the Eyebrow would have been the biggest contender for the MVP award. Why? Well, these numbers are unreal.
And not just that. The Pelicans, with all due respect, have a much weaker roster than any of other teams with MVP candidates. Basically, everything comes down to him, and all other guys just jump in from time to time, mostly because he creates the space for them.
Plus, we need to add that Davis isn’t treated by the referees like some other superstars in the league.
He spoke about intentions to leave a legacy behind, something notable for which he will be remembered. The money is not important anymore. According to his words it “comes and goes,” and all that matters is the legacy.
“When I get done playing or leave this Earth, where is my legacy going to be,” AD said when asked what is relevant for him.
One of the reporters asked why didn’t he gave some hints to the organization about his preferable destinations in order to increase his chances of winning the title.
Davis replied that he didn’t want to be disrespectful to the organization, because his treatment in New Orleans was nothing but the best. Therefore, no timetables or demands were put in front of the executives.
“The Pelicans gave me nothing but respect you know, the entire organization, and I feel I need to do the same thing for them.”
He also ruled out the rumors about him being specific in his desire to play for the Lakers. Davis stated that this story appeared probably because of his ties with LeBron James.
“My representatives never gave Pelicans any timetable or destinations…I’m not sure where that’s coming from. Maybe a connection with my representation,”
The two superstars have the same agent, Rich Paul.
Also, many fans and experts linked that with LeBron’s public call to Davis, suggesting to come to LA and chase titles with him.
At the moment, AD’s future is very unclear. According to the statements issued by the Pelicans’ organization, they won’t be hearing any suggestions from the players’ side, and they alone will decide his next team.
Also, it appears that they don’t have anything against the scenario in which he stays until the end of the season, and gets traded during the summer.

Recently, several sources claimed that Gregg Popovich sent advice to Pelican’s executives, saying that Davis should be traded somewhere East, to avoid creating another super team in the Western Conference and strengthen the direct playoff competition.
He did the same thing by refusing to send Kawhi Leonard to Lakers.
All in all, the saga begins.
