Tom Brady missed the last training session of his Patriots, and he is listed questionable for the upcoming contest against the New York Jets.
The fans were thrilled when they heard that Josh McCown is going to start against the Patriots. He, at 39 years of age, against Brady who is two years older. It would have been the second-oldest quarterback matchup in history.
However, the 5-time Super Bowl champion might skip this event. Brady injured his knee against the Titans last week, after slipping while receiving a pass. Though he finished the game, Pats listed him on the injury report for Wednesday’s training as questionable. Thursday was the day off because of Thanksgiving, and the team rested.
Today’s latest information is suggesting that Brady probably won’t appear this Sunday, but that is still not officially verified.
Meanwhile, in New York, Jets’ head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that Sam Darnold’s condition is still not good enough for him to play. That automatically means that Josh McCown starts his second game in a row.
A possibility of facing Brady once again and entering history, made the 16th season veteran very happy. He spoke with kind words about Patriots’ quarterback, stating that he is a true role model for every young player in the league.
“As young quarterbacks, you look around the league and say, ‘Who is the standard?’ or ‘Who do you want to model yourself after?’ Tom has certainly set that mark.” McCown told the reporters.
His numbers in the previous game, which was against Buffalo, were pretty bad. Jets lost that contest at home 41-10, and McCown threw only 135 yards, with 17-of-35, without a single touchdown pass. But he did get intercepted twice.

Last time two franchises met in New York, then starting Jets QB, had a season-high 354 yards, with two touchdown passes and interceptions each, but his team lost 24-17.
If by any chance Brady does appear on the field this Sunday, these two guys will become the second oldest pair of starting quarterbacks since the merger, with 80 years, 258 days.
Back in 2007, Bret Favre and Vinny Testaverde had 82 years and 44 days combined, and they are the only pair in front of them.
To lighten up the situation among the Patriots came the news about Rob Gronkowski, who will play against the Jets. He confirmed that earlier today, despite being on the injury report as questionable.
“I’m not worried at all. Just feel good and I’m excited for the game Sunday,” said Gronkowski, when asked about his injury. “I don’t even know what it was. I just had to fix it.”
Sony Michel is also listed questionable for the Pats.
As for the Jets, besides Darnold, James Carpenter the left guard, is likely to miss this event because of his shoulder injury. Marcus Maye, safety, is questionable too, same as wide receivers Robby Anderson and Brandon Copeland, but they are expected to play.
New England is tying the third place in the AFC with a 7-3 record and they are first in the AFC East, with two wins more than the Miami Dolphins. They need to win this one, since they have three very tough games afterward, against the Vikings at home, and two road derbies, in Miami, followed by a classic in Pittsburgh. Things could get really complicated for them, with many teams involved in the chase for the playoffs and the home ground advantage.
The Jets are last in the AFC East along with the Bills with three wins and seven defeats. Their dreams about the postseason are long gone, and this game will be all about saving the honor in front of their fans.
