Aaron Rodgers, one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, has officially been traded to the New York Jets this Monday. The news was revealed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
What many anticipated and expected happened. And even though no surprise was involved, the news created havoc in the media and the NFL community. With this deal, Rodgers’ era in Green Bay ends, and his quest for another title, this time in New York, begins.
Trade compensation, per sources:

Per sources, the Packers sent Rodgers to the Jets along with the 2023rd No.15 pick, and the 170th pick (fifth round). In the opposite direction head the No.13 pick from this year’s draft, the No.42, and the No.207 (sixth-round). The deal also includes a 2024 conditional second-round pick, and if Rodgers plays more than two-thirds of games next year, it will become a first-rounder.
Upon the reveal of the trade, the Jets’ insiders stated that Rodgers wouldn’t wear his No.12 but instead, the No.8, which was his number back in college.
Previously, Rodgers considered retirement, but after a short pause, he stated that his future is with the Jets, forcing the two teams to make a deal, which came six weeks later. His departure from Green Bay comes with a bitter taste for both parties because Rodgers had problems and issues with the management over the past two years, and the results weren’t at the desired level as well.
After several wasted years under Mike McCarthy, who did win one Super Bowl with Rodgers, there was a hope that the veteran QB might win another Lombardi under Matt LeFleur. Even though the Packers played great in the opening two years under LeFleur, with Rodgers winning back-to-back NFL MVP awards, the team fell short in the playoffs, posting subpar results.

Last year was the most frustrating one, with the start of the same being pretty tense after Green Bay’s decision to trade Rodgers’ favorite target and the best wide receiver in the league, Davante Adams, to the Raiders. The team struggled throughout the season, having a negative record of eight wins and nine losses, with them failing to reach the playoffs.
On the other side, the Jets had seven wins and ten losses but were above expectations, losing some tight games, yet presenting a problem for all the rivals. They have one of the youngest cores in the league, with both of last year’s rookies of the year wearing their kits. Garrett Wilson was the Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Sauce Gardner won the Defensive Rookie of the Year accolade.
With several other players who were already in the Big Apple, working under the head coach Robert Saleh, the team became one of the most talented in the league and is now upgraded with one of the most iconic and prolific passers ever to play the game. It is expected to see plenty of big names coming to New York, willing to chase the title with Rodgers and the youngsters and enjoying life in one of the most spectacular cities in the world.
