Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen open the 9th round of the German Bundesliga this Friday night. The two sides are in the upper part of the standings, with the note that hosts are positioned a little bit better and that they are in a better form right now. Combined, they have just one loss in the German championship since its start, but a vast part of their games ended in draws.
Preview
Wolfsburg (-110) has just one defeat since the campaign began, and that happened in the Europa League qualifiers against AEK in Athens, 2-1. After that, Oliver Glanser’s guys had six matches in a row without a loss, with three victories over the past four clashes.
The Wolves are not playing efficient games, and eight in the past 11 saw under 2.5 goals, and in the last dozen, six ended with just one side netting. Unlike the majority of the German sides, Glasner isn’t keen on playing efficient football.
When looking at games at home, we saw that the most recent contests against Arminia and Hoffenheim ended with the same result, 2-1, and three before were with under 2.5 goals and with both teams not scoring. It is yet another proof that Wolfsburg isn’t like most of the German league in terms of efficiency.
Werder (+333) snapped one point in Munich, playing 1-1 against Bayern and interrupting their incredible row at home. It was the fourth consecutive Bundesliga match for the River Islanders that ended 1-1.
As we said, they are not losing many games (just one against Hertha 1-4), but there are plenty of draws, and for now, Werder manages to keep itself in the middle of the standings.
As you see, they too aren’t very efficient, with the previous six Bundesliga events ending with under 2.5. goals. Yet, unlike Wolfsburg, just one didn’t saw goals on both sides.

Head to Head Games
During the previous championship, both sides picked up wins on the road. Wolfsburg was better 0-1, and that was the first victory for the Wolves since November 2015 and eight straight encounters. The game played at this stadium ended 2-3 for Werder.
The previous four at Volkswagen Arena all ended with goals on both sides, but the hosts didn’t win in any of them
Prediction
You could all guess that we aren’t going to recommend betting on a high efficiency here. These teams play hard football, without too many chances, emphasizing the defense first, and attacking only if there isn’t any risk in it.
On top of that, it is the round’s opening game, which adds a bit more pressure on both teams. Therefore, moderate efficiency, meaning two or three goals, is the best possible choice here, with odds currently sitting at -105. Betting on the full-time result could be tricky, and we recommend avoiding that.
