Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United meet in the first round of their Champions League campaign. The game at Parc des Princes is the most sounding one this Tuesday, which is why we decided to cover it. Two teams with sounding names, and a massive fanbase will most definitely provide excellent fun. The hosts are massive favorites, but if you remember, they were in the same position two years ago but ended up eliminated after United’s colossal surprise. Just to add that we have a short preview of all the UCL groups on this link.
Preview
Paris Saint-Germain (-180) was routine this weekend against Nimes on the road, beating the rivals with 0-4, and extending their victorious streak to five matches, during which Saints scored 15 and allowed one goal.
After a shaky start of the new season, where they lost against Lens and Marseille with minimal results, Tomas Tuchel’s side quickly improved its form, getting back to their usual play level.
In four of those five wins, PSG protected its net, and during that streak, three games saw over 2.5 scores. One thing that might be troublesome for Tuchel before this even are injuries, but we’ll talk more about them in the latter paragraph.
Manchester United (+550) bounced back following a catastrophe against Tottenham, trashing Newcastle on the road, 1-4, even though the Magpies took the lead after just two minutes. Furthermore, it was an own goal of Luke Shaw.
The game was pretty chaotic, with refs canceling United’s goal, and Bruno Fernandes missing a penalty, but in the end, everything worked out just fine for Solskajer’s side. In the end, they scored three goals in the last 10 minutes, two of them in the stoppage time.
All the games Man Utd played since the start of this campaign saw over 2.5 goals, three of them over 2.5 goals and both sides to score.
Latest News
Tuchel is facing lots of problems with injured players. Julian Draxler and Marco Verratti are questionable, while six players won’t appear on Tuesday night. Danilo Pereira has COVID-19, Juan Bernat, Paredes, Marquinhos, Icardi, and Kehrer are all out due to injuries.
Phil Jones, and Edinson Cavani are out for sure in Manchester, while Alex Tuanzebe is doubtful.
Head to Head Matches
The last time these two sides met, Solskajer was a caretaker manager, and after 0-2 in Manchester, he was written off before the UCL round of 16 rematches in Paris. A 1-3 win, with Rashford’s stoppage-time penalty, secured the Norwegian a full-time job at the Old Trafford.
Prediction
Even though United doesn’t look like an open-minded team when it comes to offense and their overall approach, their matches see lots of goals. The struggles in the back line are contributing to that matter a lot, because Maguire and the boys often concede some pretty unusual goals. Meanwhile, the offense is pretty sharp, and the Red Devils score regularly.
There is no need to speak anything regarding PSG and their style of play. Therefore, over 2.5 goals are the first choice here. Odds on that are at -180. If you want to increase the profits, try with over 1.5 in the second half, -110.
