Sunday Night Football: Rams vs. Cowboys Betting Preview, Odds, Prediction

The first Sunday Night Football of the NFL 2020 season is explosive, as it features the Los Angeles Rams and the Dallas Cowboys. It will be one of the most spectacular games of the season for various reasons. The first one is the debut of the futuristic SoFi stadium. The structure like this one hasn’t been seen anywhere in the world. Now the second is the firepower these two sides have. Both the Rams and the Cowboys are offensive monsters, which is why the league decided to have this match highlighting Sunday’s program.

Preview

Rams (+115) are underdogs as they faced the No.1 offense in the league last year. Still, with pumped-up Jalen Ramsey, who signed a new record-breaking deal a few days ago, and with the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald, they aren’t worried because of their opponents. 

Jared Goff had a slow last season with 22 TDs and 16 picks and a passer rating of 86.5, which was far below the expectations. Compared t 2018, when he posted 32 score tosses and 12 interceptions, that is bad. Though, the yardages were similar, 4,688 in 2018 and 4,638 last year. Overall, he led the seventh overall offense in the league when looking at the yards from scrimmage, but his execution was bad, and the Rams weren’t that notable with points.

Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods both had over 1,000 yards last year. Tyler Higbee was near that limit but is expected to burst during this campaign. A second-round pick RB Cam Akers is brought to replace released Todd Gurley, whose productivity significantly dropped last year, and whose health status is pretty complicated.

Cowboys (-135) are fired up to do something big this season. Dak Prescott is fired up to shine and get himself a contract, which will eclipse all the previous ones in the league. Dallas’ No.4 was driving the most lethal offense last year but failed to reach the playoffs. 

With Mike McCarthy, the chances for seeing the Cowboys going deep into the season are dramatically increasing. The former Green Bay head coach knows how to win titles and how to restrain superstars. And Dallas’ roster is filled with the same.

Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and the rookie CeeDee Lamb will be one of the best receiving corps in the league, if not the best. Zeke Elliot is, arguably the best rusher in the NFL, 

Dallas lost Byron Jones, who left for Miami but picked Trevon Diggs as the 51st overall selection to replace him. Randall Cobb and Jason Witten are out, but the new faces in the defense are looking pretty promising, DT Dontari Poe, DE Everson Griffen, and the one familiar face who didn’t play last year, Aldon Smith.

Head to Head Matches

We saw these two sides clashing in Week 15 last year, with the Cowboys hosting the Rams. It was an easy win for the hosts, 44-21 with Elliot rushing for 2 TDs, and 117 yards, Tony Pollard had 131 yards on the ground for 1 score. On the other side, Todd Gurley had 20 yards on 11 carries. Jared Goff was 33-for-51 and two TDs with one pick and two sacks. 

Prediction

The limit on points is set at 51.5. There shouldn’t be any problems here in reaching that number having in mind all the offensive potential on both sides. We expect a mind-blowing game with lots of points, therefore, bet on over.
