The Spanish La Liga comes back tonight with one of the greatest derbies in Europe, the Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis. Unfortunately, there won’t be any spectators here, and we won’t be able to witness a fantastic atmosphere and show created by the fans, but still, the overall experience will be superb. Expect a tough, emotional match, with high tension, and lots of nice moves.
Preview
Sevilla (-115) is a favorite here. The hosts are sitting third in the standings and are in a fierce battle to keep its position in the Champions League area, as they have just two points more than the sixth-placed Atletico Madrid.
Also, having in mind that there are eleven rounds until the end of the championship, we can’t neglect Valencia on the seventh place with five points fewer, meaning that Sevilistas could easily find themselves out of the international competitions next year if they miss collecting points constantly.
This team would definitely be closer to Real Madrid and Barcelona if they posted more confident results at home. Believe it or not, Sevilla won just 23 out of 39 points at Ramon Sanchez Pisjuan.
Real Betis (+400) is for now in the middle of the standings with 33 points, nine fewer than Valencia, who is currently occupying the place which leads to the EL qualifiers and eight more than the 18th place Mallorca, the first team under the red line.
For now, that looks ok, but with two wins or two losses in a row, the entire situation might change radically. It is why they need to be careful and focused in every upcoming match, and also, very motivated.
Heliopolitans are among the worst road-teams in La Liga. In 13 matches, they scored 11 and allowed 22 goals, for nine points – one win, six draws, and six losses.
Latest News
Nemanja Gudelj is not in the combination of playing due to his yellow-card suspension, while Lucas Ocampos stands questionable.
On the other side, Garcia and Juanmi are injured.
Head to Head Matches
The Seville Derby has a long history, and so far, this is the 131st match they are about to play. Sevilla has 61 wins, Betis 38 of them, and 31 draws. The first clash these two teams played was in 1915.
The first match in this campaign took place in November, and Sevilla won with 1-2. Scorers for the guests in that match were Ocampos and de Jong, while Loren netted for Betis.
Just one in the previous five games these two sides played hasn’t seen over 2.5 goals and both teams to score.
Prediction
We can’t be sure that the trend mentioned-above would continue after tonight’s game. Both sides are coming out on the field after a long pause, and the overall state of the players is still questionable.
Because of that, the coaches will probably implement a more cautious approach to the game, which includes protecting its own goal first and attacking the rival’s later.
Therefore, under 2.5 goals is our best tip for this match, and the moneyline here is at -110.
