Chan Sung Jung, aka the Korean Zombie, demolished Frankie Edgar, the former UFC lightweight champion. Jung recorded a TKO win in the first round of the main event at the UFC Fight Night 165. The bout lasted for 3:18, and everything the fans saw was a pure domination of the home favorite.
The Korean Zombie (16-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC) would come flying into this bout, as he destroyed Edgar (23-8-1 MMA, 17-8-1 UFC) in the opening round. The veteran didn’t stand a chance against the fired-up opponent who tore him apart.
He would send a short left, which shook Edgar and connect two more hooks that brought the rival down. For the next few minutes, Jung was on Edgar’s back, sending constant punches to his head and not allowing the Answer to get away from that position.

The referee in the ring Marc Goddard, yelled a few times to Edgar telling him to get away from there; otherwise, he would have to stop the fight. And when the American finally managed to do that, he would again receive hard hits which brought him back on the ground, and Goddard had no other option but to stop the fight.
“I was ready to fight all five rounds for 25 minutes, but my coaches and team said that’s not gonna happen,” Jung said. “Last time I was told that my fight was just luck, but not this time.”
The first strike was a massive uppercut, which shook Edgard’s legs again, and it was pretty unpleasant to see the former champ wobbling around the ring. His face was bloody, and swollen, while on the other hand, the Korean Zombie didn’t have a single scratch anywhere on his body. In total strikes landed, Jung had a 79-9 edge, which is simply unbelievable. By the way, he earned another Performance of the Night bonus, his 8th in 10 WEC/UFC bouts.
After the match, he clearly stated that he wants Alexander Volkanovski as his next opponent and that he wants a shot at the featherweight title.
In the co-main event of the spectacle in Busan, Volkan Oezdemir (17-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) defeated Aleksandar Rakic (12-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC via split decision in a pretty interesting light heavyweight fight. The final result would create a lot of negative reactions on social networks, as many believed that Rakic should have taken this one.
The Austrian fighter of Serbian origins, was hurting the rival with heavy punches, and he had more significant hits in that category, but Oezdemir focused on kicking his left leg, causing an unreal hematoma which didn’t affect Rakic’s movement. The two would often enter exchanges, and it seemed that Rakic got out from most of them as a winner.

The judges’ scorecards said 28-29, 29-28, 29-28 in Oezdemir’s favor.
“I’ve been on the wrong side of a decision already, on my last fight with Dominick Reyes,” said Oezdemir after the fight. “Now I’m going to let Reyes do his thing. And when Dominick Reyes comes back, I’ll be ready for him.”
All in all, it was a very interesting night in Busan, South Korea, with Jung meeting the expectations of the fans, and also proving why is he one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC. The latest rumors are suggesting that he might face Max Holloway, and not Volkanovsk, because of the Aussie’s issues with broken hand after his fight with the Blessed.
