Brady Creates History in Patriots’ Thursday Night Football Win Over the Giants, 35-14

The New England Patriots routed the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football and kept their record perfect. The reigning Super Bowl champions are now 6-0, following a 35-14 victory over the Giants.

We saw two things this Thursday night. One is a fantastic defense of the Pats. The other is Tom Brady creating history once again.

The six-time champion had an excellent night in Foxborough, as he posted two running touchdowns, had 334 yards, without a score though, and one interception and completed 31 of his 41 passing attempts.

But not only that, he jumped over Payton Manning on the all-time passing yards list, and is now the second player there, behind Drew Brees. Brady has 72,257 yards while Brees currently sits at 74,845.

“I’ happy we won. Happy we get 6-0,” said Brady at the press conference. “We just grinded it up pretty good.”

Another thing we’ve witnessed at the Gillette Stadium is a fantastic defense of Belichick’s crew. The Pats were simply tearing apart Giants’ already crippled offense. The home team managed to force four turnovers to block a punt, sack rookie Daniel Jones and, overall, stiff the guests from the Big Apple.

After a blocked punt in the late part of the opening period, New England’s special team returned it for a TD and the first lead of the game. It was Chase Winovich’s 6-yard return to open the show.

The second score of the defense was with 8:33 left in the game when Kyle Van Noy returned a fumble for 22-yards. Overall, the Pats reduced the Giants to just 213 yards, 161 through the air, and 52 on the ground.

It was evident that Saquon Barkley’s absence made it too easy for the champs. With the last year’s No.2 pick in the draft, the Giants have an edge in attack, the one which provides them numerous other opportunities. It allows young Jones to have a safe getaway in the moments when opponents’ defenses increase the pressure. Plus, he was without Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, and Wayne Gallman also. Pretty much his primary four options in attack.

Jones was facing one of the best defenses in the league last night, and it was the first time for him to do so. He threw 15 completions in 31 attempts for 161 yards and 3 interceptions. Without a doubt, it was his worst game in the NFL.

“I didn’t play with any means, I don’t mean to confuse that, I don’t think it was overwhelming, I think it was just bad plays, bad decisions,” stated Jones who ruled out the possibility of him playing poorly because of all the injuries.

He specifically stated that all the guys on the field played good and that they replaced the absent ones excellently, but that his bad plays influenced the result.

However, the Giants did hold on quite good for these circumstances. Jones’ 64-yard pass to Golden Tate and Markus Golden’s 42-yard fumble return leveled the score in the second, and gave some hope to the visitors.

But Brady had two one-yard quarterback sneaks, which set the stadium on fire, and those were eventually the key points of this match.

“It’s kind of an odd game every time you get three scores in the game that are non-offensive touchdowns,” said Belichick at the press conference.

Patriots will try to continue their perfect streak next week when they face the poor New York Jets on the road.

Meanwhile, the Giants are hosting the Arizona Cardinals, and have a nice chance to recover after this loss. With 2 wins and 4 losses at the moment, the situation is not that bad as many think. Following that match, they travel to Detroit to face the Lions and then have a divisional matchup against the Cowboys at home and a city derby versus the Jets.
