Aaron Rogers and his Packers are anxiously waiting for the season premiere against the Chicago Bears. Green Bay’s no.12 believes in his team and thinks that they will be much better than over the previous two seasons.
We are less than two days away from the start of the 100th season of football in the USA. And there isn’t a better game to open this campaign than the biggest rivalry in this sport. Chicago Bears are hosting the Green Bay Packers who have high ambitions from this season. The Packs missed the previous two offseasons, which was labeled as a disaster.
Now, they are aiming to head back to the top, led by the new head coach Matt LaFleur. The young HC is expected to bring new ideas, and fully use the potential of arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers. Over the recent years, the conservative tactics of Packers’ former coach Mike McCarty often slowed down Rodgers and his creativity. But now, it seems that the two-time MVP will have all the freedom he needs.
And LaFleur was pretty clear about that in his recent interviews.
“Absolutely. We’ve given him all the freedom,” LaFleur said. “So if he sees something, he’s got the green light to do whatever he needs to do to get us into a good play. We’re not going to take that from him.”

Rodgers didn’t hide his thrill when LaFleur arrived in Wisconsin. A new, young coach who has experience in working with quarterbacks, and who was one of the most talented offensive coordinators in the league will understand his talent better than McCarty.
Just to remind you all, it was LaFleur who worked with Matt Ryan when Falcons’ QB won the MVP award in 2016.
That is why Rodgers stated that he believes in a bright future of his team. A part of the new stuff will be seen already now in Chicago, and as the season progresses, more and more things will be implemented in Packers’ system.
“I’m excited about the stuff that we have in. I like the foundational start for this offense,” Rodgers said. “It can be very tough to stop because of the stress it puts on defenses with their eye control, pattern reading, reading the alignments. But we have a lot of room to grow with what we put on the field on Thursday.”
He also added that LaFleur brought many new things which will no doubt be seen for the first time at Lambeau Field.
“It’s so new and so different than what we’ve done in the past.”

Regarding the game against the Bears and the fact that it opens the season, AR thinks that it is something reasonable knowing that Packers-Bears rivalry is the oldest one in the league.
“It was always big Chicago against small Green Bay…it’s always been a great rivalry, of the special ones in the history of professional sports.”
This will be his 24th match against the Bears, and some of them were pretty spectacular. The last year’s superb comeback when Rodgers led the Packs to a win after smashing the rivals 21-3 in the final period, will be remembered forever. Chicago would later get its revenge at the Soldier Field, and by winning the NFC North.
Now, we are waiting for the response.
It seems that despite being underdogs in this contest, the Packers are pretty confident. Whether is that because of LaFleur’s new philosophy of play or something else, we don’t know. But what is sure, is that we will have one fantastic game this Thursday night.
The kick-off is at 8:20 ET at Soldier Field.
