Teddy Bridgewater Believes Saints Are a Perfect Team for Him

Teddy Bridgewater has always been one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. Since he came into the league, this guy was constantly in the middle of attention. Whether was that in the positive tone, or negative, it doesn’t concern us, because the fact is that Bridgewater has a certain charisma which makes him one of the most recognizable faces in the world of football.

Unluckily, his devastating injury in 2016 slowed down his development. That is, it completely stopped his meteor rise.

Torn ACL came in the worst possible moment for the Pro-Bowl QB from Minnesota at that time.

Four years after that catastrophic event, the 26-year old is set to reclaim his status and prove his value to the world. During March this year, he signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, worth $7.25 million, after already spending one season in the franchise from Louisiana.

He explained his reasons and plans for such a move, saying that at the moment, the Saints are the perfect place for him.

“This is the best opportunity for me to grow as a player,” Bridgewater said.

Why? Well, when you have a guy like Drew Brees beside you, that certainly can’t be a bad thing. Despite him losing a couple of years in the NFL, Bridgewater is still young for a QB, and can become an elite one.

There is one other thing. According to Brees, Saints’ offense might just be the perfect fit for Bridgewater and his style of play.

..” and I think this offense suits him very well in a lot of things we do, a lot of the capabilities that we have, the creativity we incorporate with everything we do,” legendary QB stated a couple of days ago.

Former Miami Dolphin is projected to be Brees’ backup, this season, and a Super Bowl parachute. If the leader of this team gets injured, or somehow prevented to play, Bridgewater will be there to step in and take over the wheel. Coach Sean Payton has a lot of trust in this guy, and when such a person believes in you, quality has to be the main reason for that.

During OTA, Bridgewater had the opportunity to get into the rhythm, and feel the preseason activities after a long time. He is aware that there isn’t going to be a starting position for him this season, or even the next one, but the environment in New Orleans is promising.

“As a competitor, you want to be out there starting and competing,” Bridgewater said. “But I just sat back, and I weighed my options and thought about what would be best for me. This is an opportunity for me to grow, continue to learn, and expand my mental capacity as a football player.”

If he stays healthy and overcomes all the challenges who are in front of him, there is a huge possibility that Bridgewater replaces Brees one day. Now that would be a massive deal for a guy who was considered wasted and done after his big injury.

Just a few believed in his comeback after a two-season absence from the field. And even when he started practicing and became eligible for playing, there weren’t too many people in the NFL who wanted to give him a chance.

New Orleans and Sean Payton had the opposite stance. They still believe that former NFL Rookie of the Year and the guy who amazed all the fans in his second year as a pro has that gift to be an important part of one team. Or even to be its leader sometime in the future.

It is all up to Teddy Two-Gloves now.
