Dusan Tadic played one of the best games in his life tonight. The Serbian international held a soccer clinic at the home of the biggest club in the world. His magnificent performance made it possible for his Ajax to create a massive sensation and eliminate the ruling European champions, and the winner of the last three UCL titles, Real Madrid.
The Dutch team smashed the Spaniards with 4-1 at Santiago Bernabeu, inflicting them one of the most painful defeats in the history of this competition.
That was enough to overcome the deficit from the first leg, which Real won at Amsterdam Arena, 2-1.
“This is probably the best game of football I’ve ever played. We beat the best club in the world,” said the hero of the game, Tadic.

The 30-year old had two assists and scored one goal, orchestrating the game of the visitors. In several situations, he alone outsmarted the whole defense of the Los Blancos. Before the second goal, and his second assist, Tadic made a move, which will be nominated for the play of the year no doubt about it.
The Serb took the ball near the center, smoothly avoided several rivals, and then made Casemiro look funny, when he made a pirouette beside the Brazilian.
It was the 18th minute of the game when he did that, and after his pass David Neres socred for 2-0. Previously, Tadic made one more, when he set up the goal for Hakim Ziyech, after just 8 minutes of play.
Serb beat Courtois on his own, after 62 minutes, when he smashed the ball from some 20 yards into the upper right corner of the Belgian’s goal.
The hosts regained their hope for a miracle eight minutes after that, when Marco Asensio scored for 1-3. Yet, it didn’t take too long for the visitors to break the lock of the rivals’ defense once more.
Veteran playmaker, Lasse Schone netted from a fantastic free kick, from the far left angle near the box. Courtois misjudged the flight of the ball, and the match was sealed after that one.
“It’s still a painful week, the fans have been spectacular, they’ve been supporting a difficult moment, they have not caught up with us,” commented Real’s coach Santiago Solari, who will most likely be fired until the morning, European time.

He was referring to the fact that his crew lost two El Clasicos, both at Bernabeu, and in the end this happened.
On the other side, Ajax’s coach, Erik ten Hag was delirious, and couldn’t hide his delight after this huge win.
“This was pretty close to perfection. Over the two matches we definitely deserve to progress to the next round. I enjoyed watching my team immensely this evening.”
ten Hag reminded all the journalists that his team started this competition from the qualifications, and had to work hard to reach this stage, and that all of them need to acknowledge that.
In the other game of the night, Tottenham Hotspurs defeated Borussia Dortmund on the road, 0-1, and progressed to the quarterfinals following a 4-0 victory on aggregate.
The home team was much better than the Spurs, but Hugo Lloris denied all the attempts of the Millionaires, putting an iron curtain on his goal.
The French goalkeeper saved several golden opportunities of the hosts and pushed his team towards another round.

Harry Kane was the sole scorer in this contest. It was the 48th minute, when English striker outsmarted Borussia’s defense and avoided an offside trap. The pass from his teammate Sissoko reached Kane, who didn’t have any problems of beating Roman Burki.
Two more Champions League games are expecting us this Wednesday. Manchester United will try to make a sensation in Paris and catch up a 2-0 lead PSG has after the first leg.
In the second event of the day, Porto hosts Roma, who was better three weeks ago in Italy, 2-1.
