The Dallas Cowboys finally showed a tiny bit of their potential during the previous season. Despite starting the campaign slowly and with several pale performances, Cowboys reached the playoffs and got to the Divisional Round where they lost to LA Rams who later advanced to the Super Bowl.
Though, despite losing that one, the overall impression about their season is very positive, and it brings a lot of hope about the upcoming years. With Dak Prescott in his zone, alongside Ezekiel Elliot and Amari Cooper, the franchise from Arlington really does have a nice future.
But recently, rumors appeared about the position of the current head coach, Jason Garrett, saying that his job is not secure.
The reason for such speculations was the delay of already announced appointments of two coaches to Garrett’s staff. Kellen Mooer is supposed to become the offensive coordinator, while Jon Kitna should take the place of quarterbacks coach.
So far, the official promotion didn’t happen, which caused many stories to appear about the uncertainty of Garrett’s position.
Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones decided to break the silence about that case and say a few words about the current situation in Arlington. In one friendly interview for 105.3 The Fan, he told several interesting things, among other the ones regarding the future of his head coach.

“There’s been some speculation that possibly I’m a little satisfied with going down to these Super Bowls without having my team with me, which I’m not,” Jones said, expressing his support to the current leader of the team.
The 76-year old denied all the talks about Jason Garrett’s possible departure, saying that the delay of promotions of the two above-mentioned coaches has nothing to do with that.
“Within the staff, we’ve made several commitments. But the reason that it’s not being talked about is not that Jason is on shaky ground.”
With the Super Bowl coming closer, Jones would like to avoid making any announcements during the next few days. According to his words. all eyes will be focused on the event in Atlanta, and any other news would pass without proper media coverage.
And we all know that Dallas Cowboys always want to be in the middle of the attention.
“It’s just that we’re putting together ideas and didn’t want to necessarily make that a featured topic around the Super Bowl. … Everything is as it should be,” Jones calmly concluded his explanation.
Jason Garrett is on thin ice in Dallas for a long time, and his status was already questioned several times this season. If it weren’t for the miraculous run in the second part of the campaign, there is no doubt that Jones wouldn’t keep him as the HC.
The main thing which fans and most of the pundits take against him is Cowboys’ inconsistency, and inability to reach the playoffs.
In his nine years here, he entered the postseason just three times, which is not a great result for a franchise who won the Super Bowl five times, and has one of the greatest generations ever seen, which ruled the league during the ’90s. Garrett himself was a part of that famous team.

Over the recent three years players like Prescott and Elliot made this team competitive once again, but still, it seems that the weakest link in the whole chain is Garrett, who many accuse of making bad decisions in crucial times.
He has one more year in his contract with the Cowboys, and there aren’t any indications about a possible extension.
Knowing Jones, there is no doubt that he expects results, before making any deals.
