Both Everton and Wolves haven’t won in the first two rounds of the English Premier League. Furthermore, these two units have nothing but losses and need to change something very fast; otherwise, they might get into a problematic situation early in the campaign. We’ve seen the Toffees and the Wolves enjoying a very good preseason, but the positive results haven’t continued in the EPL. We don’t need to say that the pressure here is pretty high and that both units want to win, and that’s something that adds more thrill to Saturday’s contest.
Preview
Everton (+130) is without a goal in 180 minutes, but that’s nothing new with Sean Dyche leading the team. What is odd is that the Toffees have conceded five times. Dyche is one of the guys whose teams play ultra-defensive football, and just remember Burnley under his leadership.
Seeing them lose 4-0 to Aston Villa was a great shocker. It wasn’t that we didn’t expect the Toffees to suffer a defeat, but on the other hand, four goals in their net are way too high.
The team has plenty of injured players, and we will talk about that more thoroughly later, yet we need to say that such a situation creates plenty of problems for Dyche.
Wolves (+220) played incredibly well at the Old Trafford, and undeservingly lost 1-0 to the Red Devils. After seeing them play during the summer, we stated that this team has enough quality to end up in the top six or seven places, but then came the loss to Brighton at Molineux.
A 1-4 defeat was a hard kick in the teeth for the Wolves and Julen Lopetegui. Brighton rolled over the hosts in that one, using every single chance they had in the first half, while Wolves wasted their own.
This game can show us whether Wolverhampton has that quality we talked about or not. The result won’t matter much, but their performance, because even if they lose and play well, the quality will start producing positive results at some point.
Latest News
Dele Alli is out, and Seamus Coleman, Jack Harrison, and Dwight McNeil also. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Chermiti and Gomes are questionable.
The Wolves don’t have such problems and are ready to appear with the strongest possible unit on Saturday.
Head to Head
Wolves had more success last year. They were better at Goodison, winning 1-2, with them coming back from behind. Mina opened the game netting for the hosts, while Podence leveled midway through the first half. Ait Nouri scored a game-winner in the fifth minute of injury time to hand his team three points.
The second meeting at Molineux saw a draw, 1-1. Hee-Chan Hwang scored for the hosts, while Mina leveled 10 minutes into the stoppage time.
Predictions
What we saw from Everton in the opening two events was disappointing, and we firmly believe that right now, the Toffees are among the three worst teams in the Premiership. Meanwhile, the Wolves did suffer a high loss last week, but overall, their game has a system and looks more consistent than Everton’s, and we will go with the guests from Wolverhampton not losing here.
Pick: Wolves or draw -180
