It was a busy afternoon in England. The English Premier League was back after two weeks of absence due to the international break. Seven matches took place today, among them one big derby held in London.
The Tottenham Hotspurs met with the local rivals Chelsea and delivered them the first loss of the season. It was 3-1 for the Spurs, who demolished their opponents, controlling the match throughout the whole 90 minutes. Everything was clear after the first 16 minutes when hosts already scored twice. It was Dele Alli who opened the show, and Harry Kane who continued it.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino was absolutely thrilled after the match, stating that he doesn’t want to “talk too much”.
“There’s no need for me to talk too much. I am so happy, so pleased,” Pochettino told “I don’t need to analyse too much. All credit to the players because they were fantastic.”

Kepa, the newly acquired goalkeeper of the Blues, saved his team on several occasions during the first 45 minutes. Chelsea could have experienced a much bigger loss if weren’t for this youngster.
Their boss, Maurizio Sarri was very displeased with the way his team performed at Wembley.
“Today I did not like anybody.” the Italian manager told the reporters after the game.
A similar situation had been seen in Manchester, where Jose Mourinho criticized his players. The main reason was, according to the Portuguese, ” a lack of heart”.
“It was the first of eight Premier League games until the end of December and a game we needed to win, and it was not enough from the heart.” the Special One explained in a postgame interview.
The Red Devils failed to win their fourth fixture at home this season, with Crystal Palace being an unsolvable problem. The game ended without goals, 0:0.
Another club from Manchester had a more enjoyable afternoon. City thrashed West Ham on the road with 0-4, proving that they still run things in the English Premier League. It was a one-sided demonstration of power, where West Ham didn’t have the slightest chance of avoiding a defeat. Leroy Sane netted twice, David Silva and Raheem Sterling once.

Still, this is not the best from this team. At least that is what their manager, Pep Guardiola claims.
“We are a humble team and today we weren’t at our best – too many touches, our passing was not good enough but our running was fantastic.”
Like a shadow behind Manchester City, Liverpool continues to follow the Sky-Blues in the standings. Jurgen Klopp and his Reds were pretty routine in Watford today, breaking the host’s resistance in the last 25 minutes for a confident triumph, 3-0. Mo Salah is getting back in his top form, and he confirmed that by scoring the opening goal. The Egyptian was masterful today. Besides him, Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firminho scored also.
In the rest of the matches, Fulham recorded their first success after Claudio Ranieri replaced Slavisa Jokanovic. The Italian inspired his new players, who were led by Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serb scored a brace, pushing his team to a 3-2 win over Southampton.

Everton defeated Cardiff City with Gylfi Sigurdsson providing the only goal after one hour of play. Though, we need to say that the Toffees deserved a more convincing win, since they dominated the pitch right from the start. The possession of the ball will give you a clear picture on that. Everton 71%, Cardiff 29%.
Brighton had everything in their hands. A 1-0 lead after Glenn Murray hit the back of the net in the 15th minute, an extra player, after James Madison received a red card in the 28th minute, and still, they couldn’t capitalize that. Jamie Vardy levelled the score 11 minutes before the final whistle, completing a penalty which was given after Beram Kayal’ reckless tackle on Kelechi Iheanacho.
Manchester City holds the top spot with 35 points, Liverpool has 33, while Tottenham surpassed Chelsea in the third place with 30 points. The Blues have two fewer.
Premiership continues next week.
