Bayern Munich hosts Bayer Leverkusen in the first Bundesliga game following the international break. This used to be one of the biggest derbies in Germany once, but now it isn’t. Don’t get us wrong, it is still a match of huge significance, but the difference between Bayern and Bayer is massive. The team from Leverkusen isn’t anywhere near the Bavarians, and they can’t endanger their domination in Bundesliga.
Preview
Bayern Munich (-300) needed some time to regroup following a period during which they couldn’t win the domestic championship. After three consecutive draws, Bayern would lose in Augsburg in the final game before the break.
Some of the more experienced punters suggested that the team from Munich played like this deliberately because they don’t have a worthy opponent in Bundesliga, and regardless of the current point deficit, they will end up as champions anyway. Of course, this is a conspiracy theory area, but still, who knows? After all, they rolled over Inter and Barca in the UCL without any problems.
Bayern plays super-offensive football, with constant pressure on the rival’s back line. At home, they aren’t as confident as on the road, winning two games so far, with the same result, vs. Wolfsburg and Barca, 2-0, and added draws vs. Monchengladbach, 1-1, and Stuttgart, 2-2.
Bayer Leverkusen (+650) opened the campaign catastrophically, losing six of the opening seven games across all the competitions. They were out of the DFB Pokal, suffering a defeat to Elversberg in the opening round, and after that, had three Bundesliga defeats.
Though, they rose a little bit in recent times, with three consecutive events in which they haven’t lost, posting two draws and winning a game in the UCL against Bayer Leverkusen, 2-0. Still, five points in seven Bundesliga events is disastrous for Lever.
They are terrible on the road, with one win, one draw, and three defeats, allowing a goal in all but one event. Though, we need to say the losses vs. Club Brugge and Dortmund were pretty unlucky, and Bayer didn’t deserve either of them.
Latest News
Coman, and Hernandez are out due to respective injuries, the same as Sarr, who has been sidelined for a long time.
Adil, Bellarabi, Lunev, Palacios and Wirtz won’t be in the protocol for the guests, who have been dealing with injuries for a long time.
Head to Head Games
Last year’s meeting at the Allianz Arena ended 1-1, and the game in Leverkusen saw Bayern humiliating the hosts, 1-5. Leverkusen’s last victory came in 2019, once they triumphed in Munich, and after that, we saw the Bavarians winning five times, with that single draw.
Prediction
We should see Bayern’s dominating performance. They already spent all the credit failing to take three points in the previous four events, and not winning on Friday night would spoil the atmosphere in the stands and the locker room as well. That’s why we pick Bayern to win and cover a 1.5-goal spread, with the odds on that -110. Their offensive machine should break the cold streak in front of more than 60 thousand fans who crave some success.
Pick: Bayern -1.5 -110
