The English Premier League is about to start, and the whole world is getting ready to watch the best league football. Two teams stand above all the others, Manchester City and Liverpool, and they are projected to fight for the title. Though several more units might surprise and interfere. We will list all of them, as well as those fighting for the relegation, and make our judgments on this matter.
Who Wins the Title?
Man City and Liverpool are ahead of the entire competition. The Citizens are placed better than the Reds, with Man City’s another championship run sitting at -115. Still, after seeing them being dismantled against Liverpool in the Community Shield last weekend, these odds aren’t looking realistic. Liverpool is second at +275, and we are going to say right away, these odds are underestimating the Reds.
Behind the duo, we have Tottenham Hotspurs, at +1550, and Chelsea, who is +1800. The Spurs have had an aggressive approach in the market this summer, and they got only the players Antonio Conte requested. Tottenham now has a very interesting squad, capable of stunning any team in the continent. Combined with Conte’s winning mentality, the Spurs could be a problem.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is trying to add more depth in the last days of the summer transfer window, and for the moment, the Blues aren’t looking like a title contender. Why? Because they don’t have the players who would dictate the tempo. Instead, they look like a team that waits for the counter and that is it.
Manchester United and Arsenal are behind. United is +3400, while Arsenal sits better at +3100. The Gunners looked superb during the preseason period, with Gabriel Jesus as their leading player. The Brazilian clicked immediately after arriving from Man City, and he immediately improved the team by about 50%. The whole Arsenal was looking great, and he is the main reason for that.
On the other side, United is in trouble now, and that is it. We can’t say they have the chemistry to win the EPL. To be among four, let alone win the championship. Ronaldo’s status is questionable, and his presence could either be very toxic, or it could lift the Red Devils to a top level. In this case, when he wants to leave the club, the most likely option would be the first one.
For the moment, Liverpool looks like the best possible choice, not only due to their win in the Community Shield but also due to their overall shape and the fact that they went almost all the way in all the competitions last season.
Pick: Liverpool +275
Relegation
We are going to be direct with you, our first pick is Brighton. The Seagulls sold their best players, Bissouma and Cucurella, who were the backbone of this crew. Both were extremely important pieces on the field, with massive significance. Brighton allowed them to leave without a proper replacement, and even if the Seagulls react now, that would be too late because they don’t have enough time to introduce the new players to the new system.
Odds on Brighton’s relegation are set at +900. Now, they aren’t in the first echelon of the teams who projected to go down, but in our experience moves, they made this summer are a one-way ticket to the Championship.
Pick: Brighton +900
