RB Leipzig hosts Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup. The two sides meet at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, one of the most spectacular venues in Germany. We don’t need to explain how big of a deal this game is. It officially opens the football season in the country, and it is also a chance for both clubs to add one piece of silverware early on. Red Bull didn’t perform well during the preseason tests, while on the other side, Bayern played a few solid games on tour through the United States.
Besides this one we have two more Super Cup games this weekend.
Preview
RB Leipzig (+280) lost a couple of players throughout this summer transfer window, and they might complete a few more transfers until the deadline. The Bulls have quite the talent in their locker room, and the time has come for them to profit from it.
They played two games in the preseason period. The one against Southampton ended 3-1 in their favor, while the other against Liverpool didn’t conclude so well. RB received a hard slap in the face, and a 0-5 defeat to the English powerhouse.
There will be plenty of new and young faces on the pitch. The majority of them are from RB’s youth academy, which slowly established itself among the best in Europe. On the other side, the style of play will remain the same, including lots of counter-attacks, quick transitions and pressure on the ball.
Bayern Munich (-110) was in the United States, playing a couple of friendly games. The first was against the MLS team, Washington DC, whom they confidently defeated, 6-2. The other was against Manchester City, and the Bavarians lost that event 1-0, with the only goal coming from Erling Haaland, who scored on his debut.
The Bundesliga champions have lost Robert Lewandowski, who forced his way out of the club, spoiling his relationship with the fans and some of the players. Sadio Mane should replace the Polish international, and apart from the former Liverpool striker, Bayern landed a few more young guys.
Julian Nagelsmann didn’t change anything in his approach, and we can expect to see the Bavarians sharp and aggressive as usual, trying to score as many goals as possible.

Both sides will have their best lineups available before this event.
Head to Head Games
Even though this goes as a big rivalry, in reality, the picture is quite different. Bayern is dominant in the head-to-head games against RB. The German champions didn’t lose in the past nine games, and the most recent failure for them happened in March 2018.
Last year, we saw very interesting and exciting games, with lots of goals. The first meeting in Leipzig ended with Bayern winning, 1-4, and the second at Allianz Arena with the Bavarians’ 3-2 triumph.
Prediction
Bayern is in a better position, not only because they have a more compact team, but also because they haven’t sold that many top players, or even if they did, suitable replacements were found. That is why we believe in the guests’ win here and an extension of a positive streak against the Bulls.
Pick: Bayern Munich wins -110
