The tenth season of DreamLeague Dota 2 will be an opportunity for teams mostly “tier” 2 to play on the international stage. The winner of the tournament will be able to travel to Malaysia as part of the Kuala Lumpur Major. The addition of European veteran Rasmus ” Chessie ” Blomdin finally allowed the team The Final Tribe to qualify. New formations such as Royal Never Give Up (RNG), Complexity, and Natus Vincere will have the opportunity to test their composition in the field. Team Liquid, having finished fourth at TI8, qualified for this tournament after losing to Lithium during the qualification of Major. However, they have pulled their roster out of the tournament because of health issues. Now Lithium will be playing in place of the former TI champions. Of all the teams, Roons is the one with the least experience. The Canada-US composition could still cause some surprises against already well-established formations.
After looking at this teams, it should have been quite easy to predict the winner of the competition if Liquid hadn’t pulled out. Now it will a good practice to comprehensively look into these teams and players and analyze the winner of this competition.
Royal Never Give Up
Royal Never Give Up or simply RNG is one of the favorites of the competition. They have the best team on paper.
The new army of RNG passed through the qualifiers and finally advanced to the final of the Dream League S10 qualifier. RNG’s promotion path is full of gold. They first met Newbee and showed quite an impressive performance. Then RNG has encountered TS that was waiting in the winner group. The two sides also fought three games. In the end, RNG defeated TS with excellent performance, won the finals ticket, and won the only spot for China.
Although RNG is a new army in the industry, there is a big gap between the strength of the European and American giants, but we still hope that they can work hard to win every victory, play their own style and defend the honor of the Chinese region.
CompLexity Gaming
The American organization is clearly the favorite to lift the title. The team will be led by one of the most veteran players of the Dota 2 industry, Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao. EternalEnvy has been there since the very beginning. The player has played with the players in the worlds and has his fair share of fans and critics. If you don’t know him just search his name up on YouTube. He is responsible for making some hilarious plays in the biggest competitions. Some of his are quite incredible, to be honest. However, EE has his fair share of criticism when it comes to choking in biggest moments.
EternalEnvy supportive role
Owning to his unpredictable style of play, EternalEnvy is quite famous in the Dota 2 community. At times, he can be quite influential but his decisions really affect him and his teammates on numerous occasion. So, it is really a gamble from CompLexity Gaming to put their trust on Jacky to lead their Dota 2 lineup. However, compared to other teams of the competition this side is quite experienced and strong on paper. To be fair, CompLexity Gaming and Jacky have played quite well in the past weeks compared to other participants. Jacky will be playing the role of the captain and support position 4 for the team. He has played as a hard carry for a long time in his career but owing to his experience, it is a wise choice to put his in the backlines as a support and guide CoL.
The team first tried its luck for the qualification of Kuala Lumpur Major but that was not a good experience. So they tried their luck for the Dream League and managed to secure qualification after winning three games. CompLexity Gaming did qualify for ESL One Hamburg 2018 through the North American qualifiers. However, they fell short in the tournament run and got eliminated securing the 7th-8th place. This rollercoaster display of performances from the team shows they have yet to have a good grip on their tactics. But the side will surely improve with time.
Dream tournament for CompLexity Gaming
The Captain and his teammates really need to make a strong start to the competition from the group stage. The position one and two will be played by the veterans of the team Limmp and Skem. Both players have been part of the team since its formation and have a lot to prove since they failed to secure qualification to the TI8. Sneyking will be the position three player for CoL who is quite experienced but has yet to make a big impact. Their position five is arguably the best support player in the world. Zfreek has made some of the most impressive plays in the world. The only thing he lacks at this moment is a bunch of trophies. It will be fantastic for Zfreek and his teams to lift the first title of the DPC.
Natus Vincere
In the early years of Dota 2, Na’Vi was considered the best team in the world. However, they have lost their charm and now it is fair to say that they are a tier 2 team. The lineup has been through numerous changes and is yet to find the winning formula. The new roster had a good run for the Major qualification but couldn’t secure its spot. Now they are going to try their luck in the Dream League. The team on paper is quite remarkable, but yet to achieve the true team chemistry. They might not have the best odds but cannot be underestimated.
