The World Cup title will be back to PSG regardless of who wins the matchup between Argentina and France. On one side, we have Messi, and on the other Mbappe, and to be honest, these two guys showed the most at this tournament. Both of their units have been the best in Qatar, indicating that throughout the entire tournament and displaying the most quality football. The two sides met nine times overall, so they have a solid background. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the finals of the World Cup 2022, and here is our preview.
Preview
Argentina (+180) craves this trophy. This is the second time in the past three World Cups to see them in the finals, and few players who appeared back in Brazil are now in the lineup. That was a painful defeat against Germany, yet here is the chance for Messi to erase all those mistakes, and boost his prospects of becoming the best of the best in football with this trophy.
After losing the opening game against Saudi Arabia, Argentina went on to win four events, and have one draw, against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, though they were better than Oranje, leading 2-0 until the very end of the game.
They have scored at least twice in all the games, with Messi netting five times and Alvarez four. Even though their contests are a bit slow-paced Argentina showed an extremely potent offense, that squeezes the rivals once getting the propper rhythm
France (+180) again displayed their fantastic attack. They haven’t allowed a goal against Morocco in the semis, which was the first time in Qatar not to see Lloris getting the ball from his net. On the other side, they’ve kept the tradition of scoring at least twice.
There was one game in the tournament where that didn’t happen, vs. Tunisia, but it didn’t have any competitive meaning for the Gauls. Mbappe has 5 goals, and competes with Messi for the Golden Boot. Though, that isn’t important with the title on the table.
France’s defense tends to look pretty problematic at certain points of the match, but on the other hand, once Mbappe, Dembele, and especially Griezmann take the ball, that’s an issue for the rivals.
Latest News
Messi will break the World Cup record in games played at WCs, with 26 on Sunday.
Lucas Hernandez is out for the French unit, while all other players are ready.
Head to Head Games
There were three meetings at the World Cups in the past, and the most recent was in 2018, four years ago, when France eliminated Argentina with 4-3 in the round of 16. Griezmann, Pavard and Mbappe twice netted for the Gauls, while Di Maria, Mercado, and Aguero scored for Argentina.
In 1978 and 1930, Argentina was better than the French side, 2-1 and 1-0.
Prediction
The defenses will be under heavy pressure in this game, because both offenses have more quality than the respective back lines. With Messi on one and Mbappe on the other side, we should see goals. That’s why our pick here is goals on both ends of the field, with the current odds on that set at +100 and that’s a beast odd for us.
Pick: Both teams to score +100
